Now that we have the agreement in place with AIOCC we will have over 160 races where the organisers can use VeloViewer. Part of that is that they can add waymarkers to share with the teams. I’ve been adding info about the new features on this page https://blog.veloviewer.com/veloviewer-worldtour-package-whats-new/ since November 2024 around this area (linked from the top of your Race Hub).
In previous seasons, for the odd race that provided waymarker info in their GPX files, I would manually add those in for all the teams and the teams could edit them (the code would actually make a team copy) to add descriptions or any other modification. But then should there be a change by the organiser (e.g. a sprint moved or a climb categorisation changed) then it was a really time consuming task to try and work out how the team copies of the changed waymarker could be handled.
Now that organisers are adding, editing, deleting waymarkers at any point up to and during the race, allowing teams to make copies of them, or just make small changes just for them, is actually really hard to code for. Should a sprint be moved, your copy wouldn’t get that update. Or if I just stored your modification, like the text, then if the organiser deleted that waymarker you would lose your waymarker including the change without knowing.
I can’t currently think of a way to allow the teams to edit these organiser waymarkers, so for the time being they are locked. But you can hide them by unchecking the levels in the Race Hub and Live app.
Ideally teams will have the Level 0 (sprints, climbs etc visible) and all the Level 1 (most dangerous hazards, which could be added during the race) visible and can filter out Level 2 hazards (if not useful) and also Level 3 information. All the feeds should be set as Level 3 to allow you to add your own team’s feed waymarkers at the provided location with text/colour to highlight the staff being used.
Later in the season we will hopefully be able to get some centralised feedback from teams and race organisers (ideally via SafeR) as to how it has been going and if we were to enable teams to edit race organiser waymarkers, how that might be done and how it would handle edits/deletes of that waymarker by the organiser.
