AIOCC General Assembly – Inside Track

Following VeloViewer’s first year of partnership with AIOCC, we were delighted to attend the General Assembly in Copenhagen last week to meet with partners and race organisers. The event was a culmination of the 2025 cycling season, reviewing the successes of the year and challenges of 2026.

VeloViewer Office Manager Rachel attended alongside Director Ben, and journaled her time in Copenhagen highlighting the success of the collaboration with AIOCC.

A Wonderful Copenhagen Welcome – Thursday, 20th November

I recently had the fantastic opportunity to attend the AIOCC General Meeting in Copenhagen with Ben, and I must say, it was a wonderful, albeit exhausting, trip. We flew in from Manchester, and although the weather was a bit of a surprise—snowing when we arrived—it added a festive charm to the city.

On arrival we received exceptional hospitality from the Copenhagen Sprint organisers. They made sure we felt welcomed from the moment we arrived. We started with a canal boat tour where we cruised along the water and got to spot some of Copenhagen’s iconic landmarks, including Amalienborg Palace and the Opera House but sadly, no Little Mermaid!

As we headed to dinner, we walked through Tivoli Gardens, which was particularly memorable as the park looked incredibly festive, with Christmas lights twinkling everywhere, and the snow only added to the magical atmosphere. We enjoyed a sumptuous three-course dinner at Nimb, a beautiful restaurant right within Tivoli, making for an unforgettable evening.

A major part of the trip was finally meeting face-to-face with race organisers and partners that I’ve been emailing and supporting throughout the 2025 season. There were over one hundred race organisers in attendance so it sadly wasn’t possible to meet everyone but it was great to connect with so many, including some of the large ASO delegation Thierry (TdF), Yannick (Paris Nice), Franck (TdFF) and Jean Marc (AlUla) then  Olivier from Tour de Suisse, Takis from Tour of Hellas, Pau from Ruta del Sol, Filiep from KBK, Rupert from the Tour of Austria and Christoph and Matthew from UCI/SafeR. The chance to put faces to names made the whole experience more personal and rewarding.

AIOCC General Assembly – Friday, 21 November

Friday morning started early with breakfast before heading to the Copenhagen City Hall for the official meeting. We were warmly welcomed by the Lord Mayor of Copenhagen, Lars Weiss, and the Danish Minister for Culture and Sport, Jakob Engel-Schmidt, which gave the event a real sense of importance. The meeting was filled with some inspiring speeches and videos, particularly from outgoing President Christian Prudhomme, who spoke passionately about the future of cycling and the importance of the work done by race organisers and the challenges they face. I presented a segment about VeloViewer’s first year in partnership with AIOCC where the VeloViewer WorldTour package has been provided free to its members.  Ben then discussed the developments that are being introduced for the 2026 season. Lunch was a great opportunity to chat with more race organisers and to share expertise. The networking was invaluable, and it was clear that AIOCC provides a vital platform for collaboration in the road cycling world.

AIOCC & VeloViewer

The trip wrapped up with a quick return to the airport for our flight home. It was a short but very worthwhile visit, and I left feeling energised by the conversations, the connections, and the knowledge that AIOCC is doing important work for race organisers around the world, and that VeloViewer is a significant contributor. I was already impressed by the vast number of race organisers who took advantage of using the VeloViewer WorldTour package in the first year (almost 80%), but the 28 races that applied for AIOCC membership for the new season, coupled with the direct feedback we received, is a testament that the VeloViewer WorldTour package is an extremely valuable resource in our sport.

VeloViewer Director Ben & Office Manager Rachel.

In summary, while the trip was definitely exhausting, it was incredibly rewarding. The combination of the festive Copenhagen atmosphere and the professional meetings made for a memorable experience. I’m already looking forward to the next opportunity to meet with our partners in the cycling family!
