On 26th September 2024, Strava announced “Segment Updates: Verified Segments, Decluttering and Leaderboard FAQ’s“. The goals are to remove duplicated as well as messy (bad GPS data) segments, tidy up the leaderboards (removing dodgy times) and to introduce “verified” segments. The result should be tidier segment lists for your Strava activities. Some of you will remember that in Jan 2021 almost all Zwift Virtual Ride segments were deleted (apart from Zwift-Insider’s segments used in the ZI leaderboard in VeloViewer ) which was a welcome relief to my API rate limits, given how many segments there used to be!

Zwift Insider and 100 Climbs “Segment Hunter” Maps, Profiles and Stats
The “Segment Hunter” leaderboards have been a part of VeloViewer since 2014 and are probably best known for providing the various 100 Climbs leaderboards and more recently the Zwift Insider leaderboards. Although you could easily click the segment names to view the details of each segment, providing an overview map of all of the segments in each leaderboard was always an obvious omission. So now we have a new “Details/Map” tab to plug that gap.
Updated 100 Climbs / “Segment Hunter” Strava Leaderboards
The result of GDPR and some related Strava API changes meant I’ve had to completely change the way the 100 Climbs leaderboards (and other club specific, “Segment Hunter” leaderboards) are populated and I’m happy to say, after a month of being offline, they are back!
Britain’s 100 Greatest Cycling Climbs Official Leader Board
VeloViewer has partnered up with 100 Greatest Cycling Climbs’ Simon Warren to provide an all-time leader board for the best climbs in Britain. If you’re not already an owner of these great books then you MUST get them on your next birthday wish list as they are fantastically inspirational and perfect for planning rides or even holidays. But who’s ridden the most and who is the fastest (ok, that’ll most likely be Tejvan)? Time to join the 100 Climbs Strava Club and see how you compare.
