VeloViewer Wrapped – 50×50 Max Square

Our VeloViewer Wrapped Infographic stories are inspired by users who shared their data with us and their goals for the year.

UK rider Chris Chadwick gave us the lowdown on his infographic and may inspire your adventures for 2025.

What were your goals for 2024?
My main goal for the year was to reach a 50×50 max square. I’d been around 40 for a few years, and making the jump up to 50 meant travelling further afield and committing more time to my tile rides. This became a regular, monthly, event with my good friend Matt and hopefully something that will continue into 2025.

What are you most proud of about your year of activity?
This year I’ve racked up more miles than I have ever done before and also my longest single day ride. In June I rode from my home in Swindon, to Bournemouth, then to Weston Super Mare, before finally heading home again. Starting and finishing under the cover of darkness. I enjoy the challenge of pushing out of my comfort zone once in a while.

Which stats from your VeloViewer infographic stand out to you?
Early in the year, a very cold ride was interrupted by a mechanical – a broken seat post. Of course, this happened at the furthest point from home! I pushed it all the way down into the frame and then spent the remaining 40 miles either honking or in the saddle with my knees up around my shoulders. This was the last of a succession of mechanicals that ultimately led to me retiring that bike after 15 years and treating myself to a shiny new one, so maybe it was a good thing.

Which stats from your VeloViewer infographic stand out to you?
I think it’s interesting to look at the infographics and compare them to others that have been posted. I thought I did quite a lot of climbing in my rides but VeloViewer Anna’s rides clocked up a similar amount of climbing in half the distance.

What challenges have you set yourself in 2025?
In 2025 I’m hoping to take my challenges abroad. I’m going to spend some time cycling in Spain and hope to reach the summit of Pico de Veleta, near Granada. At 11,148ft above sea level it’s Europe’s highest paved road.
