VeloViewer Wrapped – Spanish Champion

Our final VeloViewer Wrapped of the year takes us to Spain. Alberto Bravo’s infographic story is one of victory and determination, with an epic win in the Spanish 100km Running Championship, and 366 active days.

Alberto talks us through his 2024 highlights and plans for 2025.

What were your goals for 2024?

My main goals for this year, 2024, were twofold.

Firstly, racing in triathlons with young triathletes and new athletes from the Escuela Triatlón Salmantina was important to me. I prefer and perform better in longer distances, but I was eager to share sprint and Olympic distances with the future of triathlon in Salamanca, Spain.

Secondly, in terms of races, completing the Sevilla Marathon and the Spanish Running Championship of 100km.

What are you most proud of about your year of activity?

I am proud of having managed the 100km race very well and being crowned champion of Spain. I never expected to be a champion of Spain in any sports discipline. Perhaps as a coach it could have been a dream, but never as an athlete. And it came, fortunately and surprisingly, it came.

What challenges did you face in the year?

The biggest challenge was the 100km race since running at a pace of 4’/km for 7 hours is not easy at all, both physically and psychologically. The other challenge that I am currently working on is to do physical activity/training every day of the year, meaning all 366 days of this leap year 2024. So far, I haven’t missed a single day, and I’ve either swum, cycled, or run every day.

Which stats from your VeloViewer infographic stand out to you?

The number of Century Rides (in km) and the number of days of physical activity. I believe that consistency is one of my strengths.

What challenges have you set yourself for 2025?

For 2025, I would like to perform very well in the Spanish Long Distance Triathlon Championship, which will take place in May in Oropesa, Castellón, and the Spanish SwimRun Championship, which will be held in the Canary Islands. Additionally, as a coach, the Spanish Youth Triathlon Championship in A Coruña is the event I’m most looking forward to.
