Our favourite emails to receive are from VeloViewer subscribers with tales of their explorer tile hunting. We’re always shocked at the lengths people go to, but also inspired by adventure seekers who find new ways to claim a tile, along with the buzz it gives them!
We were contacted recently by British Columbian Anna Bonga who shared details of her and her husband’s mountain biking adventure with the sole focus of collecting tiles. The journey involved riding, climbing and bushwhacking through prickly bushes and alongside downed trees, whilst also carrying ice axes just in case the soil gave way and they needed to pull themselves back up the slope!
Here at VeloViewer we want you to keep on having the best adventures for as long as possible. If you are chasing tiles, do what Anna did and respect all local road rules and access rights. And of course, take all the necessary safety precautions and look after yourselves. We are not encouraging people to take risks – we just want you to have fun!
In a more recent trip Anna secured a tile off a trail by scaling up a rock face where someone previously had attached a rope so she could pull herself up. With this, and using kayaks to access trails that are not easy to reach, it is very impressive tile hunting!
We know Anna can’t be the only one and we’re keen to hear your stories. Share your adventures on social media and tag VeloViewer, or email veloviewer@gmail.com with your stories, and the most inspiring will receive a VeloViewer casquette.
