Our Meet the Team series introduces the VeloViewer team with insights into their
involvement in the business operations and what makes them tick when it comes to activity.
Here we introduce Rachel Davison our Office Manager at VeloViewer HQ.
1. What is your role at VeloViewer?
I work part time as the Office Manager so I am responsible for managing the VeloViewer office by supporting Ben and Anna with whatever they may need. I primarily look after the monthly accounts, WorldTour invoicing, financial control, legal contracts and dealing with general emails. I have also started tapping into my IT background using my reawakened skills to process the races and setting up new teams.
2. Chosen sport or activity
I prefer to walk in the Peak District which is on our doorstep in Sheffield but occasionally run a very slow 5K. I started Walking Netball last year and absolutely love being back playing a team sport! Don’t be fooled by the word ‘walking’, it’s certainly not an amble and it’s very competitive!!
3. Most memorable adventure
So far, South Africa in 2023 – going up Table Mountain, hiking at the Cape of Good Hope and Robberg Peninsula, visiting the wine region, zip lining, eating my first oyster and 4 days of safari!!! Awesome! Hopefully more memorable adventures to come…..
4. Who inspires you to be active and why?
My friendship group ‘The Walking Girls’ keep me on my toes as does our mini schnauzer Bing but he’s almost 14 now so not quite so active. We’ve been friends since I moved to Sheffield almost 15 years ago meeting through our children. There is 6 of us so there’s always a group walking at least once a week and we also have weekends away walking, mainly in the Lake District but also across UK and Europe! We are very supportive and encouraging of one another.
5. 2024 Goals
I am visiting my son in Australia later in the year so would love to climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
I love theatre so my goal is always to watch more! I’m trying to see plays and musicals I’ve never seen before…I have seen five so far this year with another 10 booked.
I am familiar with the usual team sports like football and cricket but before I started with VeloViewer knew nothing about cycling. I’m aiming to get a better understanding of professional cycling by attending a race this season, watching races on Discovery+ and the Tour de France: Unchained documentary on Netflix.
Improve my 5k time! Watch out for my Infographic at the end of the year to see how I do…
David Kearney says:
Looks like a great platform to explore more into my cycling performance..
However..
When trialling this the platform only inports 25 activities.. from 2019, which is when I started using strava.
So really the trial is not very useful since the activities are only the oldest 25 activities.
Is this the intended behaviour?
Ben Lowe says:
Hi David. Yes, the free version is a one-off sync of your latest 25 activities when you first connect your Strava account to VeloViewer to let you try out all of the functionality. If you like what you see then paying for PRO will let you sync all of your Strava history along with new activities for 12 months. If it is showing you activities from 2019 then this would be when you initially connected your Strava account to VeloViewer. I can manually reset this for you if you email me with a link to your Summary page (I will need your Strava number which is in the URL) so you will see your latest 25 activities as of today, but to then sync any newer activities going forwards you would need to upgrade to PRO. Of course if you upgrade to PRO straight away then you’ll be able to sync everything from before and after 2019.
